The not very comprehensive SharpCoupe F1 2011 season review
It’s that time of year when all the hardcore F1 fans are feeling the winter blues, everyone is getting ready for Christmas but really waiting for the Australian Grand Prix Melbourne 16/18th March 2012
For me it was a lot of fun watching all the GP’s this season and as ever great coverage from the BBC. Now adding even more pain to the winter f1 blues is the fact Sky have got coverage contracts. Ok there will be some races on BBC and highlights but there will be lots of people who will miss seeing their favourite sport fully and live next year because they aren’t in a position to pay for SKY
To some up the Season in one word I would say simply Vettel
He’s not my favourite driver but there’s no doubting his talent.
Red bull made a lot of points in the first half of the season then no other teams managed to catch up, McLaren and Ferrari were improving their car throughout the season and had some results but could not match the engineering skills of Newey and the precision driving of Vettel who time after time put it on pole
Vettel won the championship and we saw his finger fairly often
looks to me like Jenson keeps improving year after year I think he’s got one of the coolest mentalities on the track, doesn’t seem to get hot headed and angry (like some that could be mentioned)
There was a lot of talk before he moved to McLaren that he would be 2nd man to Lewis always but he’s shown this to not be the take. Button had 3 great wins this season showing his precision driving and race pace to be right up there. Who knows if McLaren have the right set up from the start of 2012 it could be Jenson putting it on pole lots and running away with the points?
also big props surly has to go to Alonso who although not getting as many points as he would of wanted, has imo been out driving that ferrari this season, i think he’s showed who is number one driver at his team (move over again massa)
As a life long Williams fan all I will say is, yet another stinker of a year and really hope they can turn it round next season.
and I hope that we haven’t seen the last of Rubens on the track !
